Lots of Sleep & Water
Derrick Henry makes sure to get really good sleep. He puts a high priority on a full night’s sleep and often takes a nap after conditioning. He invests in a good comfortable bed too.
Hydration is a high priority. He’ll keep a gallon jug of water nearby during conditioning and always has water on hand during workouts.

Derrick Henry spends quiet a bit of time in the gym year round. People don’t realize the preparation that it takes to be a Pro Football Player, much less a most valued player like Derrick Henry.
Fans watch the two hour game and forget about the countless hours the players put in to even be in the game. Derrick Henry’s workouts almost always include heavy weight training. Here are a few gym weight training routines Derrick Henry does on a regular basis:
Bench Press
225 pound bench press, 22 reps at a time.
Bicep Curls
Dumb bell curls rep rotation – *all with zero rest in between;
- each arm 30 pounds, 10 reps
- 32 pounds, 10 reps
- 40 pounds, 8 reps
- 45 pounds, 6 reps
Derrick Henry’s Workout – Weighted Bar Routine
Upper Body
85 pounds, 10 sets, 10 reps of rotating skull crushers, chest press, standing rows, overhead press, bicep curl. No rest in between.
Shoulder Shrugs
270 pounds, 10 sets of 15 reps
Squat Finisher
Deep & Slow
400 pounds, 2 sets of 4 reps
Other sets include rows, pull-ups and jump rope.
Past workout routine activities have included flipping tires and pushing a Ford F-150 all while wearing a weighted vest while on the Alabama Crimson Tide team. Perhaps these are some of the reasons the Tennessee Titans thought Derrick Henry would be a great asset? They were right!
