A public hearing meeting was held last night regarding the proposed Williamson County Land Use Plan. This plan outlines changes that impact property owners in Williamson County, TN.

Here is the item in the plan that has raised the most alarm for property owners;

Downzone properties in Williamson County from zone RD-1/RP-1 to RD-5/RP-5. Essentially, this will restrict property owners from parceling and selling property that is less then 5 acres. Right now they have the choice to parcel and sell down to 1 acre parcels if they so choose.

This plan seems like a good idea if you are in favor of slowing down Williamson County growth and preserving land. However, this should be the choice of the land owner, not government. Having the right to chose what you do with your property is why we love this country so much – right?
